How the putty pad works

Electrical outlets are "holes" in your wall that act like direct tunnels for noise. Even a soundproofed wall will fail if the sockets aren't treated. This pad wraps the back of the box to seal the leak.

1. High-Mass Intumescent Material: The dense putty adds critical mass to thin plastic or metal outlet boxes, reflecting sound back instead of letting it pass through.

2. Acoustic Sealing It creates an airtight gasket around wires and box edges, stopping the "flanking" noise that bypasses your insulation.

3. Fire Retardant works on any standard interior door, hollow-core or solid, single-side or both sides.

Result: Restores the sound-blocking integrity of your wall (STC rating) in under 5 minutes.

What the numbers mean

STC Improvement +5 to +10 Restores the wall's performance to its original rating by sealing the most common "weak link" in room construction.

UL 263 ClassifiedTested to maintain the fire resistance of wall assemblies for up to 2 hours.

Honest note: utty pads are essential for wall soundproofing but work best when used on both sides of a shared wall (back-to-back outlets) and paired with wall insulation.

What's in the box

  • 12 , 24 or 48 Putty Pads . Each panel is 15x20x0.3cm (6 x 8 x 0.12in)
  • Pre-applied self-adhesive backing on every panel
  • Step-by-step install guide

Simple 4-Step Installation

  1. Remove: Take off the outlet faceplate (ensure power is off if touching wires).
  2. Peel: Remove the protective paper from the putty pad.
  3. Mold: Wrap the pad firmly around the back and sides of the electrical box.
  4. Seal: Press the edges to create an airtight bond against the drywall, then replace the faceplate.

Frequently asked questions

Will this stop a noisy neighbor??

Partially. Putty pads are a critical component of a soundproofing system. They stop noise from leaking through electrical outlets—the most common "weak link" in a wall. While they won't block 100% of the noise on their own, they prevent sound from bypassing your wall insulation. For maximum reduction, treat the outlets on both sides of the shared wall..

Does this pad fit all electrical boxes?

Yes. The putty is highly moldable and oversized (15 x 20 cm) to ensure it can wrap around standard single-gang, double-gang, and even deep-style plastic or metal junction boxes. You can easily trim or overlap the material to get an airtight seal.

Is it safe to use around wires?

Yes. The material is non-conductive and designed specifically for use on the exterior of electrical boxes. It is UL Classified and fire-rated for up to 2 hours, meaning it helps prevent the spread of fire and smoke through wall penetrations.

Will the adhesive damage paint or wood when I remove itWill the putty dry out or crack over time?

No. Our acoustic putty is a non-setting, non-hardening formula. It remains flexible and "tacky" indefinitely, ensuring that as your house shifts or vibrates, the acoustic seal remains airtight without cracking or shrinking.

Can I use this on existing walls?Yes. While easiest to install during construction, you can apply these to existing walls by removing the outlet faceplate and carefully molding the putty around the box from the inside or through the drywall gap. Always ensure the power is off before working near exposed wires.
Do I need to apply this to both sides of the wall?

For the best results, yes. If you have "back-to-back" outlets (outlets in the same wall cavity for two different rooms), noise travels through them like a tunnel. Applying pads to the boxes in both rooms creates a dual-barrier that significantly increases the STC rating of the wall..

What's the difference between impact and airborne noise? 🔊

1. Airborne Noise

  • This travels through the air, like conversations, TV sounds, or barking dogs. When sound waves hit a building, they cause it to vibrate, transmitting through the structure.

2. Impact Noise

  • This results from physical impacts on buildings, such as footsteps, slamming doors, or moving furniture. Impact noise can be harder to isolate, as these vibrations are stronger and travel further through dense materials.

What are decibels? 📏

Decibels are measured logarithmically (not as a percentage) . This means that every increase of 10dB on the scale is a tenfold increase in sound pressure level (SPL) . Near silence is 0dB 🤫, while a sound at 10dB is ten times louder!

  • 30-40 dB = Soft music, whisper 🎶
  • 60-80 dB = Office noise, traffic 🚗
  • 85-100 dB (HARMFUL) = Subway, shouted convo, chainsaw ⚠️
  • 100-140 dB (DANGEROUS) = Chainsaw, loud concert, racing, shooting range 🚨
